Gerald Klamer, the author of Der Waldwanderer ("The Forest Wanderer"), gave up his secure job as a forestry official in Hesse and walked 6,000 kilometres across Germany to form his own picture of the state of its forests and, along the way, to look for solutions to the forest crisis.
My wife and I went to one of his talks; one can only hope his words are heard, so that our forests can become more resilient again — they are vital to the well-being of us all.
The book is a gripping read, especially for anyone who loves spending time in nature. See on Amazon.
